The International Foundation Programme (IFP) for Computer Science is designed to prepare you for degree-level study and progression to the University of London’s online BSc Computer Science, while also supporting entry to a wider range of undergraduate degrees. It develops the subject knowledge, academic skills and confidence needed to succeed at undergraduate level.

You will gain a solid grounding in programming, data analysis and statistical methods. This includes hands-on experience with Python, covering key concepts such as variables, data types, functions and control structures, as well as using Tableau to analyse and present data effectively. You will also apply statistical techniques, including inference and causal models, to real-world problems.

The programme places a strong emphasis on analytical and quantitative thinking, supported by its foundation in mathematics and statistics. These skills are increasingly important across a wide range of disciplines and industries, enabling you to interpret data, solve complex problems and support evidence-based decision-making.

To support your transition into higher education, the programme includes a dedicated academic skills component. You will develop data literacy and learn to construct well-referenced arguments, drawing on academic texts and research sources, preparing you for independent study at degree level.

Delivered by the University of London using its CAFE (content, activity, feedback and evaluation) methodology, the programme provides a structured learning experience that helps you address gaps in your knowledge and prepare for your degree.
