In this section, you'll build a strong foundation in AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and learn how to securely manage identities and control access to AWS resources. You'll begin by exploring the core concepts of AWS IAM, including users, groups, policies, roles, and multi-factor authentication (MFA), gaining an understanding of how AWS implements secure authentication and authorization using the principle of least privilege. As you progress, you'll gain hands-on experience creating and managing IAM users, groups, policies, and roles through practical demonstrations. You'll also explore AWS IAM Identity Center and learn how it simplifies centralized identity and access management across multiple AWS accounts and applications. The section further introduces AWS Directory Service and Amazon Cognito, helping you understand how AWS integrates with enterprise directories and provides secure authentication and user management for web and mobile applications. You'll also discover AWS Secrets Manager and learn how to securely store, manage, and retrieve sensitive credentials and application secrets while reducing the risks associated with hard-coded credentials. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of AWS identity and access management services, including IAM, IAM Identity Center, AWS Directory Service, Amazon Cognito, and AWS Secrets Manager, enabling you to implement secure access controls and identity management best practices in AWS environments.

In this section, you'll build a strong foundation in AWS encryption, data protection, and threat detection services, learning how to secure AWS resources against unauthorized access and evolving security threats. You'll begin by exploring AWS Key Management Service (KMS), gaining an understanding of how encryption keys are created, managed, and used to protect sensitive data across AWS services. As you progress, you'll discover how AWS WAF and AWS Shield help protect web applications from common web exploits and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. You'll also gain hands-on experience with Amazon GuardDuty and Amazon Inspector, learning how these services continuously monitor AWS environments, detect suspicious activity, identify vulnerabilities, and provide actionable security findings to strengthen your cloud security posture. The section further introduces Amazon Macie, which uses machine learning to discover, classify, and protect sensitive data stored in Amazon S3. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, you'll learn how to create Macie jobs, analyze findings, and identify potential data exposure risks. You'll also explore AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM) to securely share AWS resources across multiple accounts and AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) to provision and manage SSL/TLS certificates for secure communication. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of AWS encryption, threat detection, and data protection services, including AWS KMS, AWS WAF, AWS Shield, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector, Amazon Macie, AWS Resource Access Manager, and AWS Certificate Manager, enabling you to implement security best practices and strengthen the protection of AWS workloads.
